“Pinball isn’t exclusive, it’s inclusive”
– Brian Galecki
Why is everyone flipping out over Dumb Pinball?
There is a shortlist of creatives working together at the Dumb Arcade to design a version of our world that they want to see.
Maybe you have seen this in your feed.
The Downtown Springfield Pinball Tournament is a collaboration with many creatives including
- Lisa Clemmons Stott of Downtown Springfield Inc
- Jeff Black of Dumb Records
- Brian Galecki of Dumb Records
- Patrick Russell Reverie Apparel
Who cares?
The bracket is wide and holds a deep roster full of local business owners and politicians.
This is exactly the kind of organic marketing campaign that we need to breathe new life into the heart of our community.
Brian is a long time contributor to the podcast, and once a month we check in for an update on the store. For the past few months he dropped subtle hints about a large idea and I am extremely excited to see it all come to life.
Where everybody knows your name.
The record store is open until 7 pm and Brian mentioned that many business owners will stop on thier way home to check out the store as well as their “competition”. Many even choose to visit during their lunch breaks. The bracket is massive and takes up most of the left wall across from the counter. This close proximity almost forces engagement.
You are only competing with your old high score”
-Brian Gaelcki
The Downtown Springfield Pinball Tournament has sparked healthy competition between local business owners, but their will be more tournament tiers to ensure everyone has a chance to play.
What’s next?
According to Brian this is only the beginning and I am extremely excited to continue covering this amazing community building adventure.
